My Journey to Becoming a Specialist in Phagophobia
My path to specialising in phagophobia began by accident. I had just started working as a full time solution-focused hypnotherapist in North Somerset when I was asked by the husband of a woman named Sandra to help her swallow her medication. A stroke had paralysed her and needed to take medication so she could have a deep brain operation. My neuroscience knowledge, and understanding of brain plasticity, suggested visualisation would help, though I lacked a timeframe. The process lasted only three weeks, and doctors were amazed to find the altered swallowing control centre when they scanned her brain.

Over the years, I've had the privilege of working with clients from various parts of the world, including the USA, Canada, and Europe. The advent of online therapy has allowed me to reach individuals regardless of their location, providing support and guidance tailored to their unique needs.
Comprehensive Therapeutic Approach
My approach to treating phagophobia is holistic and tailored to each individual's needs. In addition to Solution-Focused Hypnotherapy, I incorporate techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), Mindfulness, and Human Givens Therapy. This integrative method ensures that clients receive comprehensive care addressing both the psychological and physiological aspects of their condition.
I also emphasize the importance of nutrition and have trained in Nutritional Therapy to better support clients dealing with eating-related fears. Understanding the role of diet in mental health allows me to provide well-rounded guidance for those struggling with phagophobia.
